MENS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

Men’s mental health awareness is an epoch-making topic, gaining vast attention in recent times. June marks Mental Health Awareness Month, a crucial reminder to prioritize the often-overlooked mental well-being of men and encourage them to speak up and seek help. Mental health is a matter of general concern but unlike women, men are often reluctant to discuss their struggles and share emotions.
At Hilopek company, we believe that mental health matters just as much as physical health. That’s why we’re dedicated to raising awareness and supporting men’s mental wellbeing. Men are expected to be stoic and strong but this can lead to struggles in silence. It’s time to beat the stigma and foster open conversations.
This month, we encourage men to break the silence and stigma surrounding mental health, and in the quest to achieve this we should also endeavor to learn not to judge or discriminate when we find ourselves around the men in our lives, we should treat them with respect and dignity, this way it’s easier for them to challenge the stigma and harmful stereotypes. Let’s create a safe space for them to open up, share their struggles, and seek help when needed.
Society’s deeply ingrained expectations around masculinity are part of the significant challenges in men’s health, this societal pressure makes it difficult for them to open up about their struggles. So often, what men do, goes unrecognized, unappreciated, and even criticized and attacked, and yet so many men still show up every day, they keep the world turning, they take care of their families, look out for loved ones, and still stand in the gap. The lack of appreciation and gratitude sometimes for all this is soul-killing for a lot of men, a lot of men go through life doing exactly what they should be doing, fighting a good fight and taking responsibility for people they are responsible for and just end up being treated badly and unfairly, especially when they need our support the most.
To every man out there struggling mentally, struggling does not make you weak, it’s okay to ask for help from close and trusted people, and it’s okay to express emotions sometimes, be reminded that you’re not a burden, speaking up is courage and just know that there is help out there, give it a chance, just know that you don’t have to suffer in silence, it’s okay to not have it all figured out, make peace with your mistakes, take as much time as you want, it is normal to cry sometimes you’re human, taking care of yourself is not unmanly at all, and don’t feel alone cause you’re not, and this time of difficulty doesn’t limit you, be reminded that bottling up your emotions is not healthy you need to let them out. Reach out to family, friends, a loved person if that makes you better, or a mental health professional, It is perfectly normal to go to therapy too.
Sending so much love to men who are struggling mentally, men suffering from suicidal thoughts, scared to speak up, men who are in therapy, men who are feeling alone, and men who feel dismissed by society. Don’t give up, someone loves you, you’re important and I pray you’ll find the light to heal and be a better man.
Let’s work together on this important journey and create a culture of understanding empathy, and support with love in our hearts we can give men and boys a reason to live happier and healthier.
